This Week 8-17-23: Water Management and Sustainability
WELCOME NEW MEMBERS!
Congratulations to our new Ambassadors and say “hello” to our newest members:
Pablo Fonseca (California), Vijay Rajmani (India), Mike Ferguson (Arizona)
NEWS WORTH SHARING: Researchers have found a way to help clean water with rust.
TO KNOW: Sandra Böck is the organizer of the two-day event, OFF-GRID Expo + Conference (OEC). This event is focused on the off-grid solar, wind, water and hydropower systems sector. The OEC is a strategic partner to Global Water Works, and is hosted live in Augsburg, Germany on December 7 - 8 (with TechDay on December 06, 2023). THIS WEEK’S POLL asked what we value most about lakes, and 83% of respondents suggested the wildlife and marine ecosystem were most important. Another 16% focused on aesthetic beauty. Comments suggested the value of the lake depends on its many uses – from drinking water resources to recreation. What is most important to you about your or any lake?
Recreation – 0%
Aesthetic beauty - 16%
Plant and wildlife ecosystems – 83%
Drinking water – 0%
Other, please comment – 0%
THE WONDER OF WATER: We invite you to remember all you support through your work in water by taking a 3-minute break to see how One Million Wells is creating “water neighborhoods.” These mini oases include sustainable
agricultural, industrial training, wastewater reuse and recreation. It's a beautiful vision and a great reminder of all water enables!
TECH TALK: In this week’s Tech Talk, Mary Conley Eggert spoke with seasoned wastewater project leader, Moshe Saldinger. Moshe is an Israeli Water Engineer specializing in global business development, project finance, project management, construction and operation of
water, wastewater and renewable energy projects in Australia, Israel, India, Jamaica and China. Moshe sees collaboration as key to achieving his goals for efficient water projects across the globe.
FUN WITH WATER: When it comes to water, kids are the future. Classrooms in Puna, India
use hands-on learning to show how water management is both important and fun.
WATER SUSTAINABILITY SCORES: The world’s first Water Sustainability Score has been developed. Companies can now advertise their score (from 1 to 100) to show
their commitment to water efficiency, while also trying to improve their score over time.
